GO 2008

Namibia

Namibia 2008 was a difficult trip for me from a physical perspective, but on reflecting how I could have better spent my time I was unable to arrive at any other way. Meeting up with the ladies from last year was one huge highlight for me especially seeing how they have grown spiritually since we were last there. Spending a morning at the prison speaking to women about the things of our Father was amazing and my joy would be to return and work with those women again next year. A cruise on the med or time with sisters in a prison in Nam? Nam anyday!

The Go Outreach has been going for a decade and each year st matthews has sent a group of eager missionaries. this year was no different. we had ten people going this year: grant spratley, melinda twycross, lindsey lewis, justine lewis, leanne lewis, anthony cundari, gareth bartholomew, jordan bartholomew, ashley smit and daryl henning.
The mission was held in hermanus for the third year. Over the first weekend we spent time in God's word, learning and preparing from 2 Corinthians. This was also a good time to get to know and bond with your team.
The real work however started on Sunday afternoon as we made final preparations for the week of ministry. Various teams worked with: kids and teens in both rural and the town center. During the week most teams spent the mornings in programs sharing the gospel through drama, small groups, review games and memory verses. The afternoons were dedicated to preparing for the next day. Our guys worked really hard and were “history makers” for God's Kingdom. Table View is now our mission field.

MEN’S BREAKFAST – 19TH JULY 2008

PORN, WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?

The main focus of our Men’s Breakfasts is the role that men play as head of the home, just as Christ is head of His church. We as men are to love, treasure and respect our wives & children, just as Christ does His church. Men are to take up the role that God has created & designed them for.
Our third Men’s Breakfast was once again well attended and a great success judging by the positive response & feedback that we have received.

Our guest speaker was Clive Human from S.T.O.P. – STANDING TOGETHER TO OPPOSE PORNOGRAPHY.
Pornography is such an easily disguised addiction and probably one of the easiest to be tempted by because men are visually stimulated. Clive highlighted many issues regarding pornography & the effects it has on men, women and children, & the necessity of us as men to take a stand against this addiction, which otherwise eventually leads to betrayal and, ultimately, the breakdown of the family. The men & teenagers who attended were shocked by the statistics that Clive presented regarding the power that pornography has to destroy families.
Thanks once again to Clive Human and the S.T.O.P organisation for the outstanding work that they are doing in labouring forward to make a difference in our communities.
